Why Mundus exists

Mundus was founded to fill a gap: practical, compassionate support that sits between clinical services and traditional care — help with the everyday things that make life feel manageable again.

Too many people fall through the cracks when they need help with their home environment, routines, confidence or community connection but do not need (or cannot access) clinical or personal care. Mundus offers something different: a calm, person-centred approach that starts from where the person is and works at their pace.

Kayleigh’s vision is for a service that treats people as individuals, not cases — one that builds confidence, independence and community connection through practical, respectful support.

Kayleigh’s own experience of post-natal depression and marriage breakdown gave her a first-hand understanding of how it feels to need practical help while lacking the support or knowledge to understand what is happening. That experience is at the heart of Mundus: a service built by someone who has lived through the gap it now aims to fill.

Kayleigh studied Child Psychology, Health and Nutrition, and Health and Social Care at Barry College in 2004, later continuing her education with Psychology and Social Science through the Open University, alongside Health and Social Legislation and Business Management. She also ran a cleaning company, building more than 20 years of practical experience across a range of roles.

Having faced mental health difficulties herself, Kayleigh feels the time is right to give back to the community as one of their own. Mundus is her way of turning lived experience, practical know-how and formal learning into respectful, person-centred support for others.

Mundus is registered as a Community Interest Company, meaning its purpose is community benefit first. That purpose drives everything from the way support is delivered to the way income is reinvested.

What drives Mundus

Person-centred from the start

Mundus was built around the belief that people do best when support is shaped around their own goals, values and circumstances.

Practical, not clinical

The focus is on everyday life: home environments, routines, confidence, independence and community connection — without clinical labels or time-pressured visits.

A social-enterprise vision

As a Community Interest Company, Mundus reinvests surplus back into community benefit, training and subsidised support where funding allows.

Rooted in Cardiff and the Vale

Support is offered across Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, with an emphasis on local knowledge, accessibility and genuine relationships.
