Practical relief for carers and families

Short breaks & carer support

A different kind of break: practical, person-centred support that helps carers rest while the home, routines and wellbeing are gently supported.

What this service is for

Caring for someone you love is deeply meaningful, but it can also be exhausting. Mundus provides practical short-break and carer-relief support designed to give carers a planned pause without worry, while the person they support remains safe, comfortable and respected in their own home.

This is not regulated respite care, domiciliary care or clinical support. It is practical, psychologically informed assistance that helps maintain routines, environments and wellbeing during a carer's absence.

Practical carer relief

A trusted pair of hands to keep the home environment calm and supported while a carer takes a planned break, attends an appointment or simply rests.

Home reset and organisation

Gentle, collaborative help to tidy, reorganise and create a safer, more manageable living space so everyone returns to a calmer environment.

Routine and task support

Supporting everyday tasks such as meal planning, laundry sorting, correspondence and appointment reminders in a way that preserves the person's independence and preferences.

Wellbeing-focused short breaks

Time-limited, wellbeing-oriented sessions that focus on practical comfort, meaningful activity and emotional ease rather than clinical intervention.

Who this service is intended to help

Short-break support can be valuable for a range of people and situations. It is most appropriate where the focus is practical support, routine maintenance and wellbeing within a safe, consent-based arrangement.

  • Unpaid carers who need a safe, practical support option while they take a break
  • Families supporting a relative with mental-health-related barriers, chronic disorganisation or social isolation
  • People aged 18+ who would benefit from calm, person-centred practical support in their own home
  • Young people aged 16–19 in private care settings where short-break support is appropriate
  • Professionals seeking a non-clinical, boundary-aware support option for clients or service users

A person-centred approach

Every short-break arrangement begins with a conversation about what matters to the person and their carer. We agree goals, boundaries, preferences and tasks in advance so the time feels predictable, respectful and useful.

  • We begin with the person's goals, preferences and boundaries.
  • We work at a pace that feels safe and manageable.
  • We respect privacy, dignity and choice in every task.
  • We communicate clearly with carers, families and referrers where agreed.
  • We focus on practical outcomes that reduce pressure and rebuild confidence.

Professional boundaries

Mundus is clear about what we can and cannot offer. Our short-break and carer support is practical and wellbeing-focused, delivered within strict professional boundaries.

We provide practical and wellbeing-focused support, not regulated respite, domiciliary or personal care.
We do not provide nursing, medical treatment, clinical therapy, diagnosis or psychiatric intervention.
